UEFF asked us to help them create a brand for an all new film festival. Sprung out of the local moving media festival, MOVE, came the idea of a new film festival in Northern Sweden. Initiated by the nationally acclaimed Folkets Bio (People’s Cinema) Umeå office the festival had its first run inthe autumn of 2014. It was celebrated and visited by thousands.
Our job was to give the new festival a strong visual appearance, without going for the obvious—neon signs, with a red and black colour scheme.
Building the identity from the basic values of the festival being European film and Equality. Research forced us to take on a microscopic perspective and suggested to build the foundation of the identity around the media itself — Film, and the always present Film Grain.
